Car Comparison

TATA Motors finally enters one of the most hotly contested SUV segments in the country with the Hyundai Creta in sight. The TATA Sierra launch date 2025 has been confirmed for November 25th. The iconic nameplate hasn’t been around since 2003, but now it’s back as a proper family SUV. The concept versions have been shown over the years, and we are happy to state that the production version shares a lot in common with the concept, which is what TATA customers look for. It is built on the TATA ALFA platform, hence promises plenty of technology and great safety standards as always. Let’s take a closer look at the highly anticipated SUV ahead of its launch. The Sierra is set to position itself as a versatile TATA car.

Iconic Revival: New TATA Sierra Exterior Design

The Sierra looks stunning, of that, there is no doubt. While it does come across as being boxy, the clean lines and modern styling cues make it stand out. At the front, a gloss black panel runs the width of the nose with connected LED DRLs, projector LED headlamps and the bold TATA logo. The bumper too, sports gloss-black accents, a faux silver skid plate and cube-like LED fog lights.

The side profile reveals flush door handles and 19-inch alloy wheels that enhance the rugged stance of the SUV. Black cladding around the wheel arches and doors give it a classy look, paired with the glossy black ORVMs and roof rails. A black-painted section between the B- and C-pillars reminds you instantly of the OG Sierra’s curved glass effect. At the rear, an LED light bar runs the width of the tailgate and there’s a matching bumper and a skid plate as well. The TATA Sierra electric SUV variant will retain many of the ICE model’s details, except for maybe the grille and wheels.

Premium Cabin: TATA Sierra Interior and Key Features

The cabin boasts of a dual-tone beige-and-grey theme for all five seats, all of which are equipped with adjustable headrests and three-point seatbelts. There’s a vast panoramic sunroof above you, it extends all the way to the C-pillar, allowing light into the airy cabin.

Sitting right in the middle of the dashboard is a three-screen layout, which includes a driver’s instrument cluster and twin infotainment units that merge seamlessly. The four-spoke steering design is similar to what we have seen on the TATA Curvv. Apart from the TATA Sierra specifications, features include a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, rear sunshades and more. TATA clearly prioritizes comfort and safety and solid materials inside ensure longevity. A powered tailgate and ambient lighting are part of the mix.

Powertrain Options: TATA Sierra Engine and Mileage

TATA is the only car manufacturer in the country to offer multiple powertrain options. It starts with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine which produces 170hp and 280Nm of torque. Paired to the engine are either manual or automatic transmissions, and this new petrol engine will also feature in the Harrier and Safari in the months ahead.

For those looking at an entry-level model that won’t cost as much as the other options, there’s a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol model as well. Then there’s a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 118hp and 260Nm of torque. TATA Sierra engine and mileage figures are likely to be around 18-20kpl for diesel and 14-16kpl for the petrol model. So expect sprightly performance and decent fuel efficiency as well. The TATA Sierra electric SUV is likely to have a range of 400kms on a single charge, but no details have been officially announced.

Pricing and Availability: What to Expect

As the anticipation builds for the launch, the TATA Sierra price in India is expected to be Rs 11 lakh, going all the way up to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end variants. On-road figures of the TATA Sierra in Alwar and Bhiwadi will vary by location, and our expectation for the same is Rs 12.5-22 lakh, inclusive of taxes and insurance.

TATA Sierra bookings are now open with deliveries expected to start sometime early next year. The company’s pricing strategy is expected to undercut competitors, so let’s wait and watch. Until then, head to your Classic Motors dealer and book yours now!
