TATA Motors is ready to launch the TATA Sierra EV early next year after the recent launch of its ICE versions. The teasers in the advertisements show a production-ready design very similar to the concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. It features a sealed front and bumper design unique only to the Sierra EV. This TATA electric SUV will add to the already popular line-up that includes the Nexon EV, Curvv EV and Harrier EV. The Sierra EV will sit in the same mid-size segment as the Hyundai Creta Electric. Built on the acti.ev+ platform, it is sure to bring the best to the game in terms of tech and range.
The production Sierra EV retains the bold, upright stance, high bonnet and massive width of the concept. The front LED light bar at the front and rear gives its otherwise boxy silhouette a modern look. There is no grille at the front of the EV; instead, it has a flat bumper that helps with aerodynamics and improves range.
The alloy wheels are very likely to be similar to those on the top-spec variants of the ICE Sierra. Like the petrol and diesel models, it will have gloss-black cladding and silver skid plates for a rugged SUV appeal. The spare tyre will sit under the floor, as in the ICE models. The slightly more minimalistic look on the EV sets it apart, while the iconic wraparound glass effect at the rear remains intact. Dimensions are expected to be the same: around 4,340 mm length, 205 mm ground clearance and 622-litre boot space.
The TATA Sierra EV launch date is expected in early 2026, before March. Bookings for the ICE models are already open, and the EV should follow shortly after. TATA has confirmed both RWD and AWD options for the electric Sierra.
The Sanand plant, acquired from Ford in 2023, has an annual capacity of 3 lakh units, scalable to 4.2 lakh units, supporting both EV and ICE production alongside the Curvv and Nexon. The acti.ev+ skateboard chassis enables dual-motor AWD, Level 2+ ADAS integration and faster charging capabilities.
The TATA Sierra EV variants are expected to feature a 55 kWh battery pack from the Curvv EV for the base RWD variant and a 65 kWh battery from the Harrier EV for higher trims. The AWD setup will feature a 238 hp rear motor. The expected range is around 500 km with DC fast-charging support.
Variants will include Smart+, Pure, Adventure and Accomplished. Base variants will be RWD-only; mid-trims will offer optional AWD, while the top variant will be AWD-exclusive. All variants will be electric, offering strong power and torque output.
TATA Sierra EV features TATA’s T-IDAL 2.0 architecture with 5G connectivity. The cabin offers a triple-screen layout: a 10.25-inch driver display, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger display with wireless headphones. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, JBL 12-speaker Dolby Atmos audio and a head-up display enhance the tech experience.
Comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, boss mode, dual-zone climate control and 60:40 reclining rear seats with USB-C ports. Safety is covered by six airbags, a 360-degree camera and advanced ADAS features. Eco drive modes and V2L capability are also included.
The TATA Sierra EV expected price ranges between ₹20-25 lakh (ex-showroom). The base RWD variant should start around ₹20 lakh, while the AWD variant may reach an on-road price of approximately ₹26 lakh, making it more affordable than the Harrier EV’s top-end variant priced near ₹30 lakh. Taxes can add 10–15% to the final on-road price.
